Richmond, CA – Chad Rico is a budding hip hop artist with a curriculum vitae of epic proportions. His new single release, «New Level,» on his label Gold & Gems, is not just a repetitive song refrain but a bold declaration from a music artist who is also a college math professor, entrepreneurial clothing manufacturer/designer, filmmaker and world traveler! «New Level» the debut single from his upcoming EP, titled «Myth,» is just the tip of a very deep iceberg from a young man who has been making mad, mythic moves since the age of three! The seven track EP is a collection of rap songs as varied as the 35 countries the 31-year-old has visited and reflect the flavor of his nuanced experiences. A Belizean American, Chad’s legend began at birth when he was born in South Central Los Angeles, in the same hospital and at the same time as Grammy Award winning artist Kendrick Lamar. Currently repping for the Bay area, Chad’s family relocated to Northern California where he now resides. The esteemed UC Berkeley alumni attended the university on academic scholarship at the age of 16! With a B.A. in African American Studies and Applied Math, and a masters in math from San Francisco State University, Chad also spent eight months in London in a graduate business program. The intentional student turned teacher has taught math at Contra Costa College, City College San Francisco, Berkeley City College and College of Alameda. He turned down an offer to teach summer classes at his alma mater (UC Berkeley), opting out in lieu of world travel plans. Chad started traveling at the age of three, when he boarded his first plane, alone. The experience had an empowering impact, influencing him to become a world explorer. He has visited every Disneyland around the globe except for the newest one in Shanghai. He has filled several passport books in a five-year span with vacations that include Belize City, Dakar and Barcelona.

The music business is a natural extension of Chad’s inventive persona. In addition to a music company, he has owned and operated his Gold & Gem clothing business for the past five years. He and his team design collectively and have created a fashion line of t-shirts, hoodies, crew necks and strapback hats that one can rock anywhere in the world. The young college professor is also working with legendary film producer Haqq Shabazz and has plans to executive produce and release a film next year. «Party Bus» will be based on his adventures and misadventures while traveling. «I’ve always been a natural entrepreneur. When I was seven, my friends and I would take blank sheets of paper and place them over characters in coloring books and trace them. We would then sell them to people on the street for 25 cents and advertise it as original artwork,» Chad reveals.»My expansion into the music business, especially as an artist, might seem odd to some, but I believe in pursuing all my passions and living to the fullest. Teaching, traveling and creating, whether its clothing, music or vacation itineraries, there are no limits to my explorations.» While Chad’s debut release «New Level» from the new EP «Myth» marks his entry into the music game, another track, «Click Click» showcases the professor’s street edge with razor sharp lyrics. «Night in Barcelona» recounts one of many travel memories while «Workin,» a collaboration with Gold & Gems Records’ Kam Krzy, proves that Chad’s acumen is not limited to the classroom, with a flow that shoots real game.

Rap fans know that the Bay area is widely recognized for its cliques. Chad’s entourage, the Cash Register Crew, is headed by his brother, Deezy. An enterprising group of young men, they model themselves after Chad’s example, and in addition to music and business, they devote time to giving back to their Richmond, CA community. Cash Register Crew even started an AAU basketball team to give local youth an athletic outlet. Members of the crew have traveled out of the country, alongside Chad, and everyone has either graduated from college or is pursuing a college degree. Cash Register Crew’s overall mission is to set a ‘new level’ gold standard to motivate the youth and their peers alike. Kam Krzy is the first indie artist release from the crew signed to Gold & Gems Records, having worked with various producers such as award-winning producer Michael Denton and Bay Area native producer Top. Kam’s first debut Ep is titled «Kam’s Krzy Modern Life.» Hip hop has given rise to many myths, included LL Cool J, P Diddy andJay Z. Chad Rico is laying claim to the next throne and he has all the skills to make the grade!

Brooke Josephson Single «Mr. Fix It» (Rocky G Remix)

November marks the one-year anniversary for the release of the original track «Mr. Fix It» (2017). The song taunts female domestication and encourages women to find a man that caters to the woman’s needs. In the remix, Rocky G opens with a progressive build that’s filled with dreamy vocals and echoic synths. The hook then slams into hard-hitting drums and awakening sirens for a big-room styled drop.

In the music video, Josephson is dressed in a white furry coat and wears a pair of vibrant kaleidoscope glasses. She stands in front of a mesmerizing LED background that fades between a shimmering skyline. You see Brooke’s 9-year-old daughter, Shira, bust out her moves and even drop to the floor for some breakdancing. Her LED kicks add a new visual component to the scene. A live video of one of Rocky G’s DJ sets intermingles throughout the entire piece.

The Gary Douglas Band Releases «Deep in the Water»

As the album’s debut single suggested, Deep in the Water explores the trials and frustrations of the common men and women living in today’s America. With the fury that only classic Rock N Roll can evoke, the band unleashes its outrage toward America’s unfulfilled promises – jobs lost, factories shuttered – but at the same time, they explore the joys that can be found buried beneath the rubble of hardship. It’s The Gary Douglas Band’s mission to make sure these people are not forgotten. And to do so, they’re using music’s most legendary genre: Rock.

Metro Boomin – Not all heroes wear capes

Metro Boomin’s announcing-an-album-via-billboard release strategy—mere months after saying he was quitting rap—paid dividends this week when he landed his very first number one album with the star-studded collection, Not All Heroes Wear Capes.

The chart placement marks a high point in a trend that has been on the way for a while now: producers are moving from behind the scenes into the spotlight. Whether it’s Metro, Zaytoven, or London on da Track, beatmakers are signing their own record deals, releasing their own projects, establishing their own fanbases, and generally becoming stars in their own right.

AARICIA – One Time

It’s been some time since we’ve covered Montreal’s AARICIA but she’s been busy since she released «Wildest Dream,» which was part of her Figures EP, last year. She released «Someone Like You» last month and today follows it up with «One Time.»

The video was directed by Adem Boutlidja and is part two in a trilogy that is meant to be watched in reverse order. «Someone Like You» was chapter three, «One Time» is chapter two, and you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer for the story to complete when chapter one, «Dry Water,» releases sometime in the coming months.

Check out the intense visual above, and you can also add «One Time» to your playlists on Spotify.

Vanity Vercetti – Silence (ft. Itsoktocry)

The spanish trap artist Vanity Vercetti presents the single for «Silence», a new banger where the artist demonstrates that she is one of the best exponents of the emo trap and neopunk sound. In «Silence» the also wellknown trap metal artist Itsoktocry collaborates with Vanity. The beats is produced by Digital Geass. The song will came out in Nov 21st in all the digital platforms.

Lil Peep – Come Over When You’re Sobe pt.2

Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2, the sequel to Lil Peep’s acclaimed debut album, arrives one year after the artist’s death last November. The team behind the record—Peep’s right-hand man Smokeasac, frequent collaborator George Astasio, business partner Sarah Stennett, and mother Liza Womack—assembled the project as a labor of love. For the past year, one goal brought them together: executing the vision Peep had in mind for the album before he passed.

For Smokeasac, working on Pt. 2 was a deeply personal, grueling process. Peep, born Gustav Elijah Åhr, was the first artist who ever purchased the producer’s beats back in 2014, and the two were side by side as they went from sleeping on the floor of an Airbnb to touring the world. Recalling an excruciating grieving period that followed news of his friend’s death, Smoke says, “For the first three months, I didn’t even look at my laptop or make music or anything. But I knew that I was going to get around to it.”

The task of finishing the project was a tremendous challenge for Astasio, as well. He was first introduced to Peep by Stennett, his wife, who worked with Peep under her company First Access Entertainment. Astasio is a veteran songwriter and producer with credits for Zayn Malik, Britney Spears, and Iggy Azalea, and he had grown extremely close with Smokeasac and Peep during their time recording together in London. When Smoke reached out about Pt. 2, he immediately threw himself into completing the record.

“I’ve never had to do a project like this, and it’s the one out of all the shit that I’ve done that stands out in my career. It’s the most important work,” Astasio says. “I felt like it was my duty to drop everything, which I did, and spend up until a month ago [working on this]. Every day I was trying to get it right, and going back to it.”

Trippie Redd – A love letter to you 3

Last month, Trippie Redd‘s project A Love Letter to You 3 was released, though for only a short time. Now, he’s back with an official release so fans won’t have to worry about another sudden disappearance.

ALLTY3 finds Redd vocalizing the inner manifestations of his mind across 16 tracks. Along with the recently released «Topanga,» the album boasts cuts like «Love Scars 3» and «Negative Energy» featuring frequent collaborator Kodie Shane. The Canton, Ohio rapper decided to tap others artists to shape his project, including YoungBoy Never Broke AgainJuice WRLD, Emani 22, and Nel-Denarro.

The work ethic of Trippie Redd is not in question, as ALLTY3 comes just three months after his debut album Life’s a Trip, an experimental offering. Similar to his approach on his debut, Redd doesn’t rely on many features to create his latest project.
